YEAR 11 BOY, NORTH SHORE PRIVATE BOYS SCHOOL
You have to keep doing this Event! I have had depression for 2 years and my teachers kept telling me I would get through it but after 2 years, I didn’t really believe them. Today you have given me so much hope, I know I am going to be ok.

HEAD OF COUNSELLING, GPS SYDNEY BOYS PRIVATE SCHOOL, LEADING CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST FOR YOUTH
The problem we face with students suiciding and self-harming, is that we don’t find out about them until it is too late or the self-harm has become extreme. There has been no warning and their friends are very reticent to come to us to intervene. Stand Tall has a wonderful new way of reaching these students who won’t identify themselves to us but have a chance to hear the message anonymously. By bringing the whole year group, you reach the ones who we might never have identified as needing help.

CHAPLAIN, STATE SCHOOL
The problem with suicide and other issues such as cyber-bullying is there are a lot of students who suffer in silence and won’t come forward and ask for help because they don’t want to be labelled. We brought a full year group to Stand Tall last year. Straight after the Event, 3 boys came to me separately and told me they had been seriously contemplating suicide, but now, because of what they heard at Stand Tall, suicide is no longer a consideration for them.  They have been given hope and are seeing their problems in better perspective and seeking help to deal with them. Each of these boys was introverted and had been suffering in silence. I really believe there are at least 3 young people who may not have been alive in our school today if it were not for Stand Tall.

CHAPLAIN, SYDNEY STATE CO-ED SCHOOL
Thank you for bringing hope and inspiration to our students in such a fresh way and showing them how community, faith and hope helped many of the great role models who spoke. You have changed the profile of the Chaplain in our school and quite a number of young people who would never have come to me to talk about issues, now come to me for a chat and for help with everyday problems.

SRE TEACHER, STATE CO-ED SCHOOL
The Stand Tall event has brought a change in the culture of our school. Students came back from 2015 Stand Tall motivated to make a difference. They initiated an anti-bullying program across the entire school and the reputation of our school has totally changed and it is no longer regarded as a place where bullying is a big problem. The Principal is so happy with the results, he has helped us raise funds to take 300 students this year.”

HIGH SCHOOL, CENTRAL COAST
Our school has had so much positive feedback from the students who attended the Stand Tall event that the school is considering sending many more students next year if they possibly can.
The students expressed that the speakers gave them hope and some of them also stated that they were on the verge of giving up but hearing particular speakers gave them the courage to keep going in similar situations. Also knowing that someone had gone through the same issues and made it out the other side was so encouraging and the fact that there is someone going through much worse, gave them all a reality check too.
From this event, Don who organised the whole excursion is now organising an anti bullying campaign within the school which the students have taken up and are running with. The impact that The Stand Tall Event has had on our School is amazing.

I just wanted to pass on to you praise from one of our teachers that attended Friday's event.
Cheryl said that it was a wonderful, fabulous event.  It covered the PDHPE syllabus and she wished that she could have had all of Yr 9 there!  Cheryl thought that the venue of Warilla High worked in favour having so many government schools attend.  She is looking forward to hearing of another local event next year!
So, well done to you and the team.
