"The life you can't yet see, is still worth living for."
At Stand Tall Australia, we host the largest youth mental health & wellbeing events in the country. Thousands of young people walk through the doors, and for about 5 hours, they're surrounded by people telling them the same thing: you matter, you're not alone, and hope is worth holding on to.
It's incredible what one day of inspiration, encouragement and affirmation can do. We see it time and time again - we receive the countless testimonials and see the data - young people who attend Stand Tall, leave changed.
Our team are passionate about supporting the next generation, about helping teenagers to believe in a bright future. So we asked our team a simple question: What do you wish every young person in Australia knew?
Here's what our General Manager, Sam Rogers , had to say:
"I wish every young person in Australia knew that there is more to life worth living than what they can see right now. Every person has inherent value, unique potential, and a purpose for being on this earth. The world doesn't need them to be someone else, it needs them to become the person they were created to be."
This is the heart of why we do this work. With a variety of speakers sharing different examples of overcoming adversity in different scenarios, we're able to connect with each young person.
In a fast paced and often negative-focused world, we're able to impart self-belief, perseverance and resilience in the next generation. We're able to remind them of the value of their life, and of their unique ability to contribute to the world around them.
This is the first in a short series where we're asking our team the same question. We'd love to hear your answer too - what do you wish every young person in Australia knew?
