Throughout Stand Tall's history, our live events have primarily taken place in Sydney and Newcastle, accommodating as many students as each venue could hold. However, in the wake of the global pandemic in 2020, we seized the opportunity to significantly expand our reach on a national level. Below, you can witness the progression from our inaugural event in 2013 to the profound impact we continue to make today!

A fabulous evening graciously hosted by Angus and Angela Kennard.

It was a wonderful opportunity to gather again after months of lockdown. Stand Tall Chairman Nick Farr-Jones AM interviewed our new Ambassador Alex Noble who has overcome. Co-Founders Jeanine Treharne and Angie Farr-Jones shared about the exciting vision for 5 events in 2022 including 3 regional events later this year.

the live 2020 Sydney Stand Tall event was transformed into an online extravaganza

Since 2013, the Stand Tall event has been a live theatre style event held in Sydney. In 2020, this live event promised to be the biggest ever, with 10,000 secondary students gathering at the First State Super Theatre at the ICC Sydney on June 4 and 5.

Covid-19 restrictions then thwarted these plans; however, this live event was very quickly transformed into an online live-streamed format, available to all Australian secondary schools and educational facilities. The online version, filmed at the ICC Sydney, was live-streamed to hundreds of schools on June 4, with participants given access to a recording of the event to use in wellbeing classes over the four weeks following.

It was a resounding success and has now paved the way for future streamed Stand Tall events, which can impact hundreds of thousands of students from both regional and rural areas of Australia. Going forward, this online event will supplement the traditional live Stand Tall format.

38,000 secondary students participated from across Australia

The response to the online format was incredible, as thousands of secondary students - 38,000 to be exact - participated from across Australia.

From the Cocos (Keeling) Island off the coast of Western Australia to Norfolk Island off the east cost, participating schools and other educational facilities came from various regional and urban areas of most Australian states.

In 2021, the reach will be even further as there is more time to spread the word. Covid-19 restrictions forced the Stand Tall to quickly convert to a national online event this year. There is now time to let all Australian schools know about this online 2021 event, so the potential for reaching so many more students is huge.

Yesterday our SRC had the opportunity to view a number of speakers from this year’s Stand Tall event. Can I just say - what amazing, inspirational and moving stories! All students left the sessions feeling uplifted and motivated to view their lives differently and act accordingly. THANK YOU for organising such a line up and for touching young lives in this way!

Thank you

to all our event partners who made this online event a reality.

Our Stand Tall Gala dinner, BRINGING HOPE TO YOUTH IN THE BUSH, was a great success!

The night was a wonderful success with heartwarming stories from our guests Narelle, with her son Jordy and friend Zack who drove from Braidwood to share about the life-changing impact of our summer camp. We heard from our Stand Tall Ambassadors Anna Cocquerel, Samar Yousef and Will Kemp and a brilliant performance from our new Stand Tall Ambassador, rapper D Minor, whose own story of childhood homelessness is truly inspirational. We also had the opportunity to hear from teacher Don Lawson who shared the incredible ongoing impact that Stand Tall is having on Wyong High School, Central Coast NSW.
